If a grim dark and unforgiving setting filled with Vampires isn’t your thing I have a few other ideas that could be interesting. But before asking me to run one of these I ask that you first give playing in The Dark Kingdoms a try.
#1 The (Lost) Northlands Campain
I originally built this blog as a host for a West Mrches style game that I was planning to run in the Northlands of Midgard. I had already written up or adapted a TON of content that was at one time posted on this site and (for reasons) will probably never again see the light of day. Basically I ran out of steam for doing the upfront work and I realized that the people who would want to play in my game probably weren’t down for a “West Marches” style game. Still, it might still serve as a good solid campaign someday.

#2 Demon Montain

This was (and could still be) my version of an “old school” MEGA-DUNDEON!
It is intended for players who want the following:
- A casual “beer and pretzels” game.
Kick down the door, kill the monsters, and take there stuff! - A game that’s lighter in tone.
Sure, the are “demons” and they are very likely to kill you, but only in the most ridiculous fashion. - A game that requires no commitment.
Each adventure would last for only a single play session of 3-4 hours and you would never schedule more than one play session at a time.
Traditional Campaigns with a Midgard Twist
The following are rough ideas that I have for using published D&D adventure modules and modifying them for use in the Midgard setting. These may be good for players who want the following:
- A more scripted, narrative, and long form story based adventure.
- A game that’s more “heroic” in tone and (probably) less lethal than the two options listed above.
- A game that requires a commitment to play on a regular ongoing schedule.
#3 Dark Hunger
This idea takes plot elements from “Out of the Abyss” and sets it within the subterranean Ghoul Empire of Midgard. No dark elves chasing you, they were all eaten!

#4 Dragon Heist
Take the plot of “Dragon Heist” and replace the city of Waterdeep with the great and glittering city of Harkesh (fantasy Constantinople), capital of the Mharoti Empire.
(fantasy Ottoman Empire ruled by Dragons).

#5 Office Hell
Take the plot and setting from “Decent into Avernus” and add elements form the “Acquisitions Incorporated” source book. This is either the stupidest or the most briliant idea for D&D that I’ve ever had. This is the only adventure I would consider running outside of Midgard because Balder’s Gate is so iconic. Also I can think of no worse way to pollute the Midgard setting then by establishing an Aqc Inc. branch office.
